peek-a-boo toys

So, I've been researching what kinds of things sell best on Etsy, and as it turns out the photos that sell well are, well, cutesy. I tried making my toys play peek-a-boo today:

Sigh. I guess it's a work in progress.

gloomy gambier

The weatherman has been speaking of 80 degree weather for quite some time, and I'm sure as hell not seeing/feeling it. Henry (my teacup plant) is looking forward to sitting on the windowsill when it's not 40 degrees outside.

blue weekend

I wish future self could tell past self to not go to Wooster for art openings, because the juniors still can't make anything interesting to look at. Waste. Gah.

shameless self promotion

Also, dear readers, I have re-launched my Etsy shop. I'm going to try and make this better than the last one. Check out the link to the right, and please recommend it to all your friends who are in the market for buying photographs. That would be most wonderful.

shadows

I know we've had the sun back for awhile, but I always get caught off guard by shadows. I feel like I'm obsessed with them- I constantly look out my window to see if they've moved. And they follow you wherever you go. It's like having a constant companion. Who could ask for more?

rainy days

I could sit by the window and watch the rain all day. Seattle has my name on it.

PS. Ohio, when I wake up, this snow better be gone.

a look inside

my wallet:

There's nothing I enjoy more than collecting things, and everything tends to end up in my wallet. Various foreign currencies, receipts, GAP business cards from several different GAPs in New York, a note from my old boss for running an errand, Chinese cookie fortunes, Russian documents that saved me from being arrested, and lots of subway cards from multiple locations. I used to keep movie ticket stubs in there, but the stopped fitting so I had to take them out...I had ones from Love Actually and Moulin Rouge...ridiculous.
You'll see me on Hoarders some day.

I got the dog back. Finally.

i.s. success!

HAPPY I.S. MONDAY!!!
For those who are/were not privileged enough to experience IS Monday, it's a special day at Wooster when we all turn in our senior thesis. Drinking starts promptly at 9am (if not earlier) and continues in Lowry, goes through the free pizza party (yes, our school gives us a free pizza party) and crash at promptly 7:30pm. And make sure you hang out in the quad all day, but have no recollection of it the next day. It's funny, because all four years you will look forward to your IS Monday, and then when you're out of school, it's legit treated like a real holiday.

Wooster, these drinks are for you tonight.

spring cleaning

Oh yes, it's that time of year again, when I get to do my favorite activity - organize! I was on the ball this weekend. Dusting, sweeping, fabreezing. I got all my hula-hoops to sit nicely. I cleaned my bathroom and cleaned the shower. And I re-folded all my clothes and put them nicely into the drawer. It won't last long, but I'm going to sleep well tonight.

PS- Do you see the cover of my 30 Rock DVD? I was at that photo shoot. I was there! Sorry, I had to gloat.

my my

I sure have been invested in these textures lately, haven't I? Sorry for the sub-par post, but I had to finish a very important application that's been on my mind for quite some time.
Also, you probably don't know what this is, but it's a camera bag. My first ever. That's right, I've had a camera for 6 years, and I've never owned a camera bag. They're too expensive, but that's why Etsy was created. Vintage, cute, and cheap. Who could ask for more?

back to the quarry

I guess this is a little repetitve, but I had a lot of fun with textures yesterday. Though instead of crinkled paper, I used tea-stained paper. I like it. And I might as well keep with my theme of "power lines".

greetings from michigan

I would definitely say, to not go over two years without seeing your good friends. It's far too long. I spent the weekend in Michigan with BFF Ashley (another intern from my SNL days). We hadn't seen each other since we moved back from New York. God, I've missed that girl.

I really didn't get to take too many pictures, just because we were having too much fun. Also, I think we watched TLC for a total of 8 hours at some point. But I did get to see Ann Arbor. I've heard good things, and I wasn't disappointed. It's trés cute.

Unfortunately, it was dark and gray most of time so the impressions I have from Michigan are kind of spooky. It also doesn't help that Ashley's town has this super old prison that's been shut down. I do love it though. Today was spent seeing the sights of Plymouth, country-store shopping, and playing on a super old, super fun, and probably super dangerous merry-go-round. Oh, and driving 3 hours back to Ohio. Blah.

spring awakening

Ahhh, spring! It just puts me in such a fantastic mood. Alison and I got to enjoy a lengthy walk, a trip to the quarry, and playing on trains.
Also, I usually make season playlists (cause I'm like that), and if you all want to share in my mediocre taste in music, you can listen/download my playlist here. I've been listening to "Some Kind of Nature" on repeat all day. Also "Daisy". Have fun kids, and go out and enjoy this weather!

This one is for you, girl.

hoppipolla

Some images from my daily jog this morning:

Yes, I said it...jog. Okay, okay, it's mainly walking, but I do have a solid 15 minutes in there somewhere of jogging. I think this is a good representation of Gambier: spooky trees, old churches, vast open roads, and dead things. It's going to be hard to leave this place for good someday.

reach for the sun

Does anyone watch The Buried Life? I've never found MTV shows to be particularly groundbreaking, but this one is different. I was practically balling at the end of the season finale. I hate the fact that I watched it (#83: Throw the most bad-ass party ever), doing nothing, sitting on my couch. It really makes me want to just go. I don't know where I want to go, but I'm ready to leave.
I want to see the world; run through mud fields and buy platform heels. I want to go to the Oscars and scream at the top of my lungs. I think it's time to make my own list.

Which makes me wonder, dear readers, what do you want to do before you die?

down the rabbit hole

Okay, so I did do something this weekend. I saw Alice in Wonderland, and it was fan-tas-tic. I had my doubts about the movie (which I don't know why, I tend to love everything Tim Burton does, minus Planet of the Apes), but I loved it. The costumes were spectacular; I was trying to figure out how to make the dress that Alice wears at the Red Queen's castle.
And I don't even sew.

weekend rewind

Saturday: Fringe trim. My bangs were half-way down my nose.
Sunday: Watch Oscars.

Sorry my weekend was not more visually interesting. Although, I'm giving you my opinion on the Oscars, regardless if you wanted it. Can I just say: best Oscars ever? I nominate that Steve/Alec be hosts for the rest of our lives, that every speech should be like Christoph Waltz's, and every show should look like retro glamor sparkles. So wonderful. Although my favorites didn't walk away with much (Fantastic Mr. Fox, District 9, Inglourious Basterds), I just wanted to see a crushed James Cameron. And I got that. I think I'm the real winner of the night.

dinner party

I made dinner for Andy and Aileen tonight. Me, cooking! What a world.
After dinner: wine&wii.

Awesome.

It's been way too long since I've done a portrait (that wasn't me).

five leaves left

I took this picture at 6:30. 6:30 PM. Spring is on the way. I can feel it.

And for those who think I've "given up on my blog" (you know who you are), here is something I've been working on:

More on that later.

atop the stairs

When the dog gets scared, she sits at the top of the stairs. It's the only place in the house were she feels safe (from the vacuum cleaner). I wish I had a place like that too. I used to; I can't remember when I lost it.
