some little ditties from my birthday
Woke up with the sun shinning into my apartment.
Enjoyed breakfast in bed with some of my favorite boys.
Wore my favorite socks to work.
Enjoyed the quiet before the storm (and it was a shitstorm, I assure you).
Lunch with the Avett Brothers.
Was taught by coworker Seth of why you shouldn't keep pens in your mouth.
HAD THE BEST DINNER EVER.
With a nice little treat to keep myself cool.
Opened some presents that were sent in the mail.
Spent some time with the new love of my life.
No birthday would be complete without Ben Wyatt, Human Disaster.
Made a new list!
Enjoyed this.
Drank. A lot.
A late night/early morning walk.
Drunk food at 2am.
Really needed some of this by the end of the night.
Home.

the vanity of blogging
You know, blogging is a very selfish thing. Like, I honestly believe that you want to hear and see every detail of my life. But I'm just vain enough to keep posting about it. And what do I get in return? Nothing. I don't see pretty pictures from your days. Well, I get the satisfaction of hearing (seeing?) my own voice (text?). Because I'm sure you really want to know that I walked to work in the pouring rain today. And that I get to walk past a creepy statue of Dorothy on the way. Or that my co-worker Stacy and I made a Funfetti cake last night because no one else at the store has had it (btw-it was delish). Or that I live in a super cute neighborhood.

But while I'm tooting my own horn on deaf ears, I'll just keep talking. I recently applied to a job and literally used the phrase "I don't want to brag or anything, but I'm really good at it" ('it' being cleaning, thank you Ariel Corporation). You want to hear some good music? Download The Low Anthem. They have a song called "Hey, All you Hippies!" (exclamation mark included) and an entire album called "Oh my God, Charlie Darwin". Plus a very beautiful song called "To Ohio" which I'm pretty sure I'll cry during when I see them live in a couple of weeks. Want to know what I'm drinking these days? Goose Island Summertime Ale. Delish. I mean, I guess I could go on and on about how cool my tastes are, but it's already 10:15, and it's probably time to go to bed (all the cool kids go to bed at 10:15).
Wah, wah. I'm awesome.

some things that have been keeping me busy
Blah, I've just had no no no time recently. Okay, I only have to make it through 6.5 hours
tomorrow, and then I'll have a partial day off, at least. But all of my free time will now be spent with Millie...pictures soon, promise.
Also, these were taken with my new, snazz red camera. I am determined to take more pictures, and certainly not with my phone.

the benefits of working in the sky
Chris and I went to the movies today (the first movie I've been to in 2011, which is kind of wrong) but anyhoo, the point is, I came out of the theater and was disappointed to see that it was raining (again). I walked up Michigan to get to work, all the rain, and when I came upstairs it looked like this. It was like being in an airplane, but it was really only a few feet below me where it was raining. And doesn't the 900 Building look like a castle? A castle in the SKY? It does. And that's how I'll think of it from now on.
