There were such pretty colors as the sun set on my way home last night.

O muse!
Sing in me, and through me tell the story
Of that man skilled in all the ways of contending...
A wanderer, harried for years on end...

i've been usin' those sorry old words

Do you ever have your music on shuffle and that perfect song comes on and it just feels like your iTunes knew what you needed to listen to? Thanks, computer, for understanding me.

have you ever lived, through a wisconsin winter?

Ok, first of all, why, oh why, is it so fucking cold outside? OVER. IT. Good thing I have this guy to keep me nice and warm (at least on the inside).

So, my second day of work wasn't as terrible as the first, but trust me, I'm still lookin' for a new job. Well, I mean, I did get one the other day (at a camera store, fun!) but it's still only part time, so back to craigslist I go. But my 6 hour day of standing (legit standing, no sitting, no walking even) had my dogs barking by 4 pm and I got home and took one of these, my favorite activity. How I will ever take a bath without beer again? I don't even want to think about it.

sometimes i wish...

...that Facebook didn't exist, so all impromptu, multi-hour phone conversations were as nice and special as the one I had tonight with this guy. Especially on those no-good days like today.

the perfect space

I want to have friends that I can trust,
that love me for the man I've become not the man I was.
I want to have friends that will let me be
all alone when being alone is all that I need.

Also, Rob and I went out for Chinese last night, and this was my fortune. Too perfect.

lazy saturday

Cold and snowy weather calls for staying indoors. My couch was already set up like a bed due to Robby's visit, so I just kind of settled in for the day. We finished watching The Virgin Suicides this morning, so I decided to keep with the uplifting movie route by watching Capote (PS it's time I read In Cold Blood again..it's been five years [!] since I first read it). What will I watch tomorrow?!

since 1934

First off, I want to thank those who have commented on my last post, and I do appreciate it. It's been a tough month, but things can only go up. One of the reasons February was terrible, is we learned that out dear little store in Geneva would be closing. It came about very, very quickly that it was kind of hard to process. I had just started working there really, but I feel so much closer to the people who worked there than from Orchard. It's really sad. And really, I will miss Harry and David and hope the company will land on it's feet soon (I'm not sure how much I can share, but Google "Harry and David" and the news results will pretty much tell you everything). So the past two days have been dedicated to closing yet another store (I'm getting really good at this game). Today was fun because we didn't have to deal with customers, I was treated to Corner Bakery for breakfast and Lou Malnatti's for dinner, Debbie's wonderful singing, and having a pretend race when we drove back from our Deer Park store (which Tim [and myself as co-pilot] totally won). I can't imagine having anyone but Kristin as a boss, but I must move on... to taking tourist's pictures at the Hancock and Navy Pier.

It's been hard, but as I mentioned in my last post, I have met some really wonderful people, including these two: Tim is a movie extra, and will be in not one, but TWO episodes of the Chicago Code and was in The Dilemma...no big deal; and Kristin, who of course is my best friend and I will miss her tucking me in at night when I stay at her house. Seriously, I love her. (Sorry for the picture quality, I just had my phone, boo!).
