the sea is getting rough again
Finally when things start to calm down, it all starts back up again. But time can continue to go quickly, because I need the next 24 hours to happen now.

rosehill
Um surprise, I went to the cemetery again today. However, I decided to make the longer trek up north to Rosehill Cemetery. It's more than double the size of Graceland, which makes it a tad overwhelming. Although I greatly prefer my normal haunt, Rosehill had some beautiful imagery in it. I will say, however, I wasn't a huge fan of the photos I took there today, so I'll have to visit again once fall rolls in for good.

the woes of retail
The amount of cuts, scrapes, and bruises that I'm now adorning, is quite frankly, astounding. I'm not sure what it's like to have knees that don't hurt, and I fondly remember a time when I didn't have so many headaches. I must be getting old. Or maybe, that my job is so physically exhausting that I couldn't possibly imagine making my own dinner (to be honest, just taking a picture of it was kind of hard). Thank God I have Five Guys on my side.

graceland, revisited
Only having one day off a week, I save up everything I need to do for that one day, and after my errands and apartment cleaning, there's barely any time left to do anything else. But unexpected days off always lead me up to this place. And today was a prefect chilly and cloudy day to explore the cemetery. I will spare you the majority of the photos I took today, as I'm sure you're sick of seeing this place, but I found something new. I had previously thought that I had seen every nook of the cemetery, but I discovered this flute player today sitting atop a grave. I had to crawl through some bushes to get to him (which only means I'm totally going to be haunted tonight), but it was worth it. He was creepy as all hell.
Thanks go out to Laura Marling's Night After Night for the soundtrack of today's jaunt. Seriously, her new album is amazing. Perfection. Go download it...now!

banjo
After finally conquering Wildwood Flower and mastering Little Maggie, I was feelin' pretty good coming out of my banjo lesson. Luckily, I decided to take a different route home, and bumped into a gentleman who happened to be loading his own banjo into his car. "I see you have a musical instrument! Guitar? No! Banjo! You should be in our banjo band!" No matter how much I told him that I haven't been playing long, he was pretty insistent that I come jam with them on Monday nights. Of course I will join, especially after he told me that they only play music written before 1920. Unfortunately, Monday was supposed to be my one day off, but it looks like I'll be working, but hopefully I can get out in time to make it up there. I'm always on the lookout for new middle-aged friends who play banjo.

rub-a-dub
The past four days and 30.5 hours have been the most exhausting ever. I have been on my feet/walking/crouching so much that my knees and ankles were completely swollen for the past two days. I talked to my brand manager today, and there just may be some exciting changes coming up, but I'll save the deets for later when plans actually get underway (if they ever do). Until then, it's bath time.

chicago
It's hard to not talk about the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Obviously it's something we all thought about today. I've always loved New York, and I miss it dearly. I'm glad, though, that I had the chance to experience the twin towers in real life, being atop the observatory in August 2001, just a month before the attacks. But I think today I was really thinking about how 9/11 affects me today, and it makes me appreciate this city a lot. Thankfully it wasn't harmed, and we all get to enjoy Chicago in full, where as there will always be a piece missing in NYC.
