welcome home

We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.

in ohio (we have swimming pools, too)

I took Bear swimming today, and decided to go in too. I love floating down the river on my back- you just lower your head into the water and it's absolute silence while you look up at the clouds. It's perfection. Also, the title of this post comes from a song, In Russia (We Have Parking Lots, Too). I woke up pretty depressed, but in a Russian kind of way.

Let's pretend the Kokosing is the Volga, for just one day.

a summer wedding

Another summer, another wedding. Beautiful bride and a beautiful family. It (almost) makes me forget the searing pain in my shoulders.

Cute cake topper, right?

well well well

So, as it turns out, my graduate program isn't accredited, so that means I cannot get any kind of funding for it (federal/private loans), so that means I can't go. Which in turn, led to this:

Which in turn, led to this:
Nothing better than retail therapy. I wish every short bout of euphoria was followed by a trip to Anthropologie. On to plan B...? C? D?

along the road

Why today has been spectacular:
  • I got over the mysterious pain in my foot, so I got to exercise.
  • It's been raining, which means sitting out on the porch, listening and smelling, with my best friend.
  • NPH on Glee
  • I got into GRAD SCHOOL.
  • It's Tina Fey's birthday.
Things are looking up.

little orphan annie

I found this lace collar closet-shopping yesterday (I go through the stuff in our closets that has long been forgotten). It makes me feel like the 1920s. Get ready, because it's going to be in every outfit from now on.

braindead

Ugh. So sorry, I've fallen out of my blogging habit. I've had to deal with a sick dog, who is not even mine, and has taken up much of my time/mentality. I have to admit, I cheated (for the first time) and all of these photos were taken today. I took some on my cell phone the other day, but my phone camera is really not up to par (just another pro for iPhone in the debate that I'm having with myself). I won't even tell you what these are- create your own story. It's probably more fun that way.

of seas and shadows

happy mother's day

I thought this photo was pretty fitting. This is the look I normally have on my face. And flipping though the baby books to find this, I found that most times, my parents insisted I look like a boy. I had a blond afro from 6 months to 5 years old. I thought with two boys before me they would want to make me look like a girl. Oh well. Over it.

Love you, Mama!

work? what is that?

Ok, besides moving to NY, I do have other legit things going on. On top of working part-time at Ariel (ugh) I'm dog-sitting too. They may look cute, but they're a total pain in the ass. ....But also super cute.

MoMA

As defined by Wikipedia:

"The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) is an art museum located in Midtown Manhattan in New York City, on 53rd Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. It has been singularly important in developing and collecting modernist art, and is often identified as the most influential museum of modern art in the world"

So I guess I should explain what I'm doing. I've officially decided to move to New York. I love Ohio, but it's just not working out anymore. I suppose Gambier will always be my official "home"; I'm comparing my life to what it will be to what it used to be. This, for example, is a painting my mom did in college. It's been hanging in our storage room for as long as I can remember. It's kind of "one" with the basement in 305.

cleaning up&out

With all this talk of finally moving, it's time to get rid of all this junk in my room. Although I came across a good gem. If you ever visited my studio, you probably know where it's from. I think I'm going to get it framed.
