Sneak peak of my apartment: it's super old.
Phew! It seems like forever since I've updated, but seeing as I don't have Internet currently (here's hoping for it in the next week!), I can't update as much as I'd like. I just had to find the energy to haul my ass down to the Caribou Coffee. It's a good thing I'm still on Eastern time, so I got here just when it opened. M. Ward just came on, so I don't think coming down here is a bad thing.
Okay, long story short everyone, I love Chicago already. I love my apartment, my neighborhood, and the fact that I live so close to water. Being in landlocked Ohio has made me appreciate water, and I finally have the opportunity to just walk down and sit by the lake for hours (really, hours because I don't have a job yet). It's a great mix of people here; currently in the Caribou Coffee: an old man who is studying medical textbooks, a middle aged couple enjoying a hot chocolate on this chilly Chicago morning, business men tooling around on the Internet, joggers waiting to use the bathroom, a man with a two year old sipping on juice boxes, and me. Everyone here is so nice (I mean it, really nice) and everything is so green and clean, and it's just.... wonderful. I was scared that I had made a big mistake with moving here without a job, but I can tell already that I was wrong.
I don't ever want to seem like I'm bragging or anything, but you'll just have to understand I'm truly happy for the first time in a long time. Not to say I was necessarily depressed in Ohio, but I finally have that feeling that everything is falling into place... at least for the time being. Which is good enough for me.
I've had a fun week already (the zoo! Tasty food! Joe Besl!) and a really great week ahead (more Joe Besl! Weinermobile! Rob & Milwaukee!) so hopefully I'll have the Internet soon so I can share. Until then...
